I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day and enjoyed your All About my Mom and Portrait gift your child made you. I learned a lot about you all this week! A lot of you look great for your age; I had no idea some of the moms in our class were in their 80's!
Georgia Milestones Testing is almost complete! Georgia Milestones testing continues May 13th-14th, so there will be no visitors in the building, including lunch visitors. Beginning Wednesday, May 15th, lunch visitors and copy helpers will resume.
Math Study Guide/Assessment: If your child stays with me for math, our last math assessment is Monday, May 20th. A study guide for 1.2 Math Unit 6 was sent home on Friday. A study guide for 2.1 Math Unit 3 will be sent home on Monday. The study guide is yours to keep and does not need to be returned to school.
Last 10 Days of First Grade Countdown: I sent an email with the list of the daily activities for our First Grade Countdown. The students are very excited about this, and I appreciate how you’ve kept the activities a surprise for them. Please continue to do this and only discuss the next day’s activity with your child. This makes the final days of school more fun and exciting for everyone. Thank you!
Infinite Campus: In your child's Friday Folder, you will see some information about the new Student Information System program that Fulton County will use next year. On the back page of the packet is a student information paper that needs to be verified by you. If there are any changes, please make the necessary corrections on the paper, sign the paper at the bottom, and return it on Monday. If there are no changes, please sign the form at the bottom and return it on Monday. ****NOTE: There is no place where a signature is needed, but please sign in the empty space at the bottom of the paper.
PBIS Reward: Our final PBIS reward of the year is Thursday, May 16th. Students will be given 30 minutes of free time in the classroom. They can draw, use classroom technology, play games, put puzzles together, or just get with friends and talk, they will be able to choose what they’d like to do. Students must have at least 30 Dojo points to participate.
Science Lab: The final Science Lab of the year will be Monday, May 20th at 1:00.
End of the Year Party: The first grade End of the Year Party is Thursday, May 23rd from 11:00-12:00. The party will take place outdoors, weather permitting. The students are already talking about how excited they are for the party, and I’m sure it will be another fun one! Our room mom sent out an email with information about the party, items to donate, and volunteering. I hope to see you all at the party!
Field Day: Field Day is Friday, May 17th, and this is a fun day for all Sweet Apple students. Field Day begins at approximately 8:00 am, and we will go outside and participate in many fun activities. The event ends when all activities have been completed. Fourth Grade Lemonade Stand: Mark your calendars for next Thursday, May 16th as the 4th Grade team hosts its pre-sale for their Lemonade Stand Day scheduled for Tuesday, May 21st. Each year, 4th grade sets up and participates in a Lemonade Stand to raise money for a great cause and this year it is the ALS Association. On Thursday, students may pre-purchase a glass of lemonade for $1.00 each. On the day of the sale, students who pre-paid will receive a ticket(s) that may be exchanged for a glass of lemonade. Exact change on the day of the pre-sale is appreciated.
